Flower fanatics such as John Young of Trevallyn will be putting their best flower forward as spectators enjoy the plethora of colours on display.
Mr Young, who is 81-years-old, has been involved in floral shows since he was seven.
“It was mum and dad who used to show,” Mr Young said.
“They gave me a little garden bed of my own, I started showing 35 years ago.”
Mr Young did contract work for many years along the West Coast, he found gardening was a great activity to do on his down time.
“Mostly I was away from home and this gave me something to do when I came home of a weekend,” he said.
Mr Young started his gardening with succulents and cacti as they were easy to take care of given his work schedule.
“When I was working contract I started growing cacti, didn’t have to do much with them,” he said.
“[It] didn’t matter if you didn’t water them this week, or water them next week, they’re easy going.”
Mr Young has been working on his garden since 1977 and maintains that it will forever be an ongoing project.
He said with his memory going with old age, he found associating names with planting flowers to be a good way to remember.
“I could picture the flower in my mind and when I picture the flower and when it was growing, I said ‘oh that’s Julia,’ that’s the only way I could remember that name by association,” he said.
Mr Young said he had an issue with people stealing some of his flowers, and believes the perpetrators to know what they were looking for.
“They’ve got to know a bit about it because they don’t take them all they’re very selective about which ones they wanted,” he said.
