The free public event will feature a number of wetland-based events for families to engage in.
Coordinator at the Tamar Island Wetlands Amber Travica said the day will have a particular emphasis on Indigenous wetlands history.
“These wetlands would have been used by Indigenous people for many things,” Ms Travica said.
“There is the importance of the Indigenous community, and their connection to country.”
World Wetlands Day is an international celebration to commemorate the signing of the Ramsar Convention that was created to highlight worldwide conservation of wetland dwellings.
The day will include many family activities including live snake, dragonfly and skink displays and guided walks by a ranger around the wetlands.
“We feel that the day is a good day to invite the community to come and have a look on why wetlands are important to conserve,” Ms Travica said.
