The property, residing at 21 Church Street, is made from solid sandstone.
It was first purchased by Christopher Hall in 1846 for the tidy sum of 23 pounds.
Mr Hall was the postmaster, schoolmaster, parish clerk and shopkeeper of Ross in his day.
The property was purchased as recently as 2010 for $300,000 after having the same owners for 56 years.
After receiving a few upgrades, Fernleigh is now once again on the market for $680,000.
The residence underwent roofing, wiring and plumbing renovations.
The property now has two extra self-contained living areas, one attached to the main building another that was renovated out of what used to be the stables.
In total the property has five bedrooms, three in the main house and one in each of the separate living areas.
Though the property has had some new additions to it, the original mantles, timber-work and doors remain intact.
42 Degrees Real Estate property consultant Carol Hill said the historic appeal of the area should make it a hot property.
“Buyers from the mainland are particularly interested in properties with historic value,” Ms Hill said.
“We always hope for a quick sell, but we’ll see, we have had a lot of interest.”
Ms Hill said with the separate living spaces Fernleigh provides, the property would make a great B&B or Airbnb.
“The extra areas are fully furnished and both have TVs, toasters and other extras,” Ms Hill said.
“There is also plenty of parking available out the back in separate areas meaning there won’t be much of a disturbance the permanent residents.
“It hasn’t operated as a B&B for a while, however it now has everything you need to set it up as a great B&B or Airbnb.”
Ms Hill also mentioned that with a spacious outdoor area the property, there was a possibility for even more expansion, pending council approval, should the owner wish to.
