The study, released by the City of Launceston council on Tuesday, focused on flood mapping and modelling of the North and South Esk Rivers.
Council built environment manager Michael Newby said the report was another way to continue improving flood mitigation.
“It hasn’t highlighted anything in terms of things we need to do differently. Our flood levee protection system is world-class,” he said.
Mr Newby said the key points of the report would result in a planning and building controls update.
“That is something we are working on at the moment, we are not exactly sure what those controls will look like but it is an opportunity for the community to engage as well of the developers to engage,” he said.
Two community information sessions about the report will be held at the council officers at the Town Hall. The sessions will be held from midday to 2pm and from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday.
Acting Mayor Danny Gibson said the council had focused significantly on flood mitigation since the 1929 deluge, engaging consultants and staff to develop and review the models to protect the city.
