Plans for a new City Mission “internal office fit-out” within a heritage-listed warehouse at 37 Frederick Street, Launceston, were advertised on Saturday and feature meeting rooms, offices, and open “workspace” areas.
The site sits opposite one of the organisation’s retail outlets, its youth and young adult service hub – “The Mish” – and its head office.
Drawn up by Launceston’s S. Group, the plans show the first-floor space will include a reception area, two meeting rooms, four offices, a staff lounge room and a large carpeted work area.
IN OTHER NEWS
The second floor will host another four offices and staff lounge area, along with two meeting rooms, a quiet work space and training room.
Accessibility will also be addressed by the fit-out, which will enable entry from street level via a ramp, and access to the second floor via an elevator to be installed in place of an existing dumbwaiter.
A band of white paint on the brickwork facade is proposed to be removed after consultation with the Tasmanian Heritage Council indicated it would not reduce the cultural heritage value of the building.
City Mission and S. Group were contacted for comment.
Details of the public notice can be found on the City of Launceston eServices website.
The advertising period closes on Saturday, February 2.
