After its purchase in December last year following a decade on and off the market, on Wednesday the inn will become a destination again, too.
The doors to St Andrews Inn are being thrown wide to all for an opening day event and what Gillian Mason-Johnson, one of the new owners, hopes will be the start of a great relationship with not only the tourists staying in its historic rooms, but the community too.
“We’re really wanting to be a part of the community, not separate to it,” Ms Mason-Johnson told The Examiner.

Local producers are being invited to hold stalls at the opening event, with the cafe also open to serve up its specialty Devonshire tea.
The reopened inn will feature the cafe space, two double rooms for travelers, and event-hosting facilities. Ms Mason-Johnson said they also hoped to open up the space for community art shows and film screenings.
“We’re hoping to put it back on the tourists’ map again, but also the locals’. The locals are the life and blood of the place.”
Northern Midlands Council Mayor Mary Knowles will officially reopen the iconic inn at 11am on Wednesday, January 23.
More information about the opening event can be found on the Facebook event page.
