The Mulach family, Sharna and Rod and their children Chloe and Liam, first visited Ulverstone as tourists in 2016.
“We fell deeply in love with Tasmania when we first travelled here. Tassie was just the natural choice for us, it felt right,” Mrs Mulach said.
After travelling Australia for two-and-a-half years, during which time they visited Tasmania twice, the Mulachs decided that Ulverstone was on the top of their list.
“We were drawn to the North-West with its natural beauty and farm land so close to the beach; we could never be far from the beach,” she said.
Mrs Mulach said their two children were “very much the driving factor” for moving to the state as they had enjoyed holidaying here and felt comfortable in the area.
“We had sold our house at Tweed Heads prior to travelling; we knew we didn’t want to return there,” she said.
“We arrived in Tasmania with just our caravan on March 18 and the first house we looked at the day after we arrived ended up being the one we bought.
“The moment we saw it we knew it was what we wanted and for the first time we had every box ticked – close to the beach and river, a flat area to walk to the shops.”
Mrs Mulach said she and her family have never looked back.
“The lifestyle is fantastic, its so quiet and peaceful, its so easy to meet up with friends and listen to some live music at the Berry Patch or the Wharf.
“We can go to the beach and walk along the river. One thing is our proximity to Cradle Mountain, its only an hour away so we can play in the snow, go for a walk or hike.”
Her husband Rod found a job easily and Liam and Chloe settled in at school.
“We have all made an easy transition to living here, the kids love their school, my husband found a job quickly and we have met some fantastic friends.
“We also happened to move at the same time as other friends so we love visiting them in Queenstown and catching up.”
Mrs Mulach said the climate was a big factor in why she loved the island state.
“We love the climate in the North-West, cool winters and beautiful summers. In Northern NSW we had humid, unrelenting heat for nine months of the year and it was getting hotter every year. In Tasmania we have true seasons, perfect for enjoying the garden.”
Mrs Mulach said Ulverstone had been the perfect fit for her family, and had everything they needed.
“We are here to stay, Tassie has so much to offer...it’s just stunning.”
