Have you seen a woman dragging a canvas around the streets of the CBD? Or a mobile recording studio jangling around town? What about the massive Man installation floating in Cataract Gorge (until Wednesday, at least)?
The cause of all the wonderful weirdness around Launceston this week is, of course, Mona Foma. The music and arts festival from Tassie’s own world-class museum, Mona, has launched up north with an unmistakable flourish, and the community – for the most part – has embraced it with open arms.
For everything you need to know for the festival, check out our comprehensive guide. We’ve got the music program for set times, a map of all the installations and exhibitions here this week, and almost 20 profiles of the artists involved in the festival.
Not interested in Mona Foma? This weekend, there’s also the Tamar Valley Folk Festival, the Barnbougle Polo, and Music in the Park.
Have a great weekend Northern Tasmania!
