Negotiations between the state government and public sector health workers remains ongoing, after a meeting on Thursday failed to reach a resolution.

Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmania branch secretary Emily Shepherd said members had been left disappointed, after wage negotiations were postponed until next week.
“We’ll now look to further escalate statewide industrial action, including increasing bans on overtime, double shifts and stop work meetings,” she said.
“We just want this to be resolved, so that our members can get on with what is most important – providing the best care and treatment.
“There has been some positive discussions and we remain committed to negotiating with the government, for a positive outcome.”

Wage negotiations have been ongoing for about seven months, with the government maintaining its current offer provided for a 6 per cent pay rise over three years, plus improved terms and conditions.
On Thursday Labor health spokeswoman Sarah Lovell said the government had no option but to scrap the 2 per cent wage cap.
“It has no option but to start treating its workforce with respect,” she said.
“It has no option but to pay a fair wage.”
Health Minister Michael Ferguson said the government remained in “active discussions” with the ANMF, with both parties continuing to negotiate in good faith.
