The planning scheme amendment and development application will be decided on by the Break O’Day Council at it’s January meeting.

The amendment aims to rezone land at 50 St Helens Point Road from an Environmental Living Zone to Rural Living Zone.

The Environmental Living zone prohibits proposed lot sizes, ratio, land size and subdivision within one kilometre of the coast.

The subdivision would be across two existing titles, which were combined to create an area of about 151 hectares.

The subdivision will be spread over 10 stages.

The proposal includes lots set aside for public roads, future roads, and public open space areas. It also seeks to create a road reserve for the Tasman Highway.

The application was first received by council on February 16, 2018.

Council consultant planner Rebecca Green said the proposal complied with the scheme and it was appropriate to recommend it for approval, subject to conditions.

The decision will be made at the council meeting at 10am on January 21.
