Much fanfare and a lots of ads from Channel 7 when it was announced they were taking the cricket broadcasts from their main rivals Channel 9.

It appears to myself that this trial looks like going the same way as the AFL went a few years ago, which only lasted a couple of years.   

When Channel 7 were blowing their own trumpet saying that every ball, every match would be shown in glorious HD TV, the opposite was true.  

The series against South Africa at the start of the summer was not shown at all and the start of the televised games was the Indian’s first test.

Now with the first one day match held last night against India, not one minute was shown on Channel 7, presumably it was on a pay-for-view station, which not every one subscribes to.

So if you follow cricket, I presume you must now go and subscribe to another useless TV channel that will cost you your hard earned money, which you will have less of.

WITH recent statements from former Australian Cricket captain Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft regarding the South African “Sandgate” scandal, an independent and comprehensive investigation must be instigated to establish what other players were involved, and to encompass previous matches leading to the aforementioned scandal.

For Cricket Australia to investigate its own players, there seems to be an ostensible and innate conflict of interest.

The recent robotic and unison response from Cricket Australia “is to move on”, desperately trying to contain the contagion of ugliness that has pervaded Australian cricket under its stewardship.

A COUPLE of months ago our renowned cricketer Ricky Ponting was doing an advertisement on TV. It was about cricket.

The ad said that all the matches between Australia and India would be free on Channel 7. This was found to be an absolute lie.

The one day matches are on Fox. Us old age pensioners who are keen supporters of all forms of cricket can’t afford Fox TV.
