Falmouth Community Centre secretary Louise Keady said with the town being a seaside community, it was decided a boat shape for their street library was fitting.
“Plus it really stands out as a local icon and is becoming a tourist feature in its own right,” she said.
The library was built by Falmouth resident David Godfrey-Smith.
Following the decision by the community centre to proceed with the project in 2017, he based the library off plans found online.
“Open to one and all who have a book to share, come to Falmouth and find the bookshelf shaped like a dingy,” Ms Keady said.
“Simply leave a book of your own and choose another to take with you – it’s that simple.”
