The 36-year-old started out his Big Bash career with Melbourne Stars in that inaugural domestic Twenty20 season back in 2011-12.
But the Longford product made a return to his home state the next year to play out his time at the Hurricanes.
Bailey, who is the first Hurricanes player to reach the milestone, has compiled 1196 runs at an average on 37 and a strike rate of 134.
Coach Adam Griffith was quick to pay tribute to Bailey’s contribution to squad over the past seven seasons.
The pair had both played in Tasmania’s first T20 clash against Queensland in 2006.
“George is one of those characters – it’s the best way to best way to describe him,” Griffith said.
“His passion, his knowledge, he’s a high-character individual, one of the highest I’ve ever met.
“His passion for Tasmanian cricket is undisputed.”
Bailey will come up against his one-time side at the MCG for the big occasion.
The Canes are looking to resume their winning ways after suffering a first loss in six matches a week earlier.
