Despite the hot weather, bowlers relished the opportunity to grace the greens again.
Penguin pulled somewhat of a surprise by defeating Port Sorell by 14 shots after winning on one rink and sharing another. The big winner for the Two Blues was the Wayne Manson, Jake Moate, Harvey Clarke and Bronwyn King rink who were convincing winners over Rohan Donohue 30-11.
The win was enough to cover the rink wins by Aaron Jago, who snuck in by one, and Luke Marshall who defeated Shane Stanfield 26-22. Josh Marshall and Peter French played a 24 shot draw. The win by Penguin virtually wraps up a top four spot on the ladder.
Ulverstone put paid to any faint hopes the Devonport Eagles had of contesting this seasons finals with a three rink 10 shot win. The win also set the Robins up to hold onto fourth position.
Rodney “Rocket” Horton led the way with a 27-18 shot defeat of Greg Williamson. Not far behind was the Colin Willcox, Robert Eudey, Robert C. Franklin and Damien Pankhurst rink who won 27-20 over recently crowned Tasmanian Open Pairs winner Tristan Bakes.
Eden Moore defeated his name sake from the Eagles, Ian Moore, 22-19. It was left to the reliable Michael Higginson, Tony Hamilton, Ken Fogg and David Eglin rink to salvage some credibility for the Eagles by defeating Sam McLean 32-23.
Latrobe was far too strong for the Wynyard Cats, defeating them on all rinks by a resounding 36 shots. The Demons were well served by Phillip Mundy, Callum Butler, Garry Courtney and Frederick Sheean rink who finished their 25 ends 12 shots in front of Damien Syme.
Demons veteran Greg Douce led his team to a six shot defeat of Tony Haneveer, and Tim Douce put the acid on Grant Crowe defeating him 29-21.
The showdown between ladder leader South Burnie and second placed Burnie was billed as a must see game, and it turned out to be just that, with South Burnie prevailing by a solitary shot.
South’s veteran Ricky Richardson, with good backup from Bob Mayfield, Gerard McCarthy and Peter O’Donnell, defeated David Gamble by 11 to set up the win for South.
For the Tigers, the ever reliable Mark Nitz tried his hardest to get his club over the line by defeating Cameron Griffiths by ten, and Jeremy Turner defeated Julian Brown 22-21.

The winners in division 1 were South Burnie over Burnie. Devonport Eagles defeated Ulverstone. Turners Beach won against Latrobe, and Penguin were victorious over Port Sorell.
