A Tasmania Fire Service spokesman said the half acre fire had been brought under control, with no threat to the community.
“The fire had burnt through gorse grass, which can cause a significant amount of black smoke,” the spokesman said.
Smoke and ash may be visible around the Westbury area.
People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn.
Advice is available from the Department of Health or the Asthma Foundation of Tasmania.
People traveling in the area should exercise caution if driving in smoke, by turning on headlights and driving slowly.
