For her, yoga is not about sculpting a tight and toned body or being able to put your legs behind your head – it's about what the movement and meditation does to the head and heart.
“It’s not about gymnastics and being the bendiest person in the world,” she said.
“It’s not about the perfect posture. It’s about how it makes you feel.
“A lot of people are scared off by that idea – they’ll say ‘I’m not flexible’ – well then, come.
“I don’t post any of that stuff that makes yoga look perfect, because it’s not about that. And no one’s perfect, anyway.”
That will be the ethos behind Love Dance and Yoga Festival, to be held in Bridport January 11 – 13.
Ms Barron will be teaching stand-up paddleboard yoga, which is exactly what it sounds like.
There will also be traditional practices, dance, kirtan – call-and-response singing - and meditation, including beach-side sunset meditation.
Ms Barron first fell in love with yoga while working in India.
“I needed something to do just for myself, and I started using it as a management tool,” she said.
“Maybe it was stress, maybe it was homesickness, maybe it was an emotional issue – you can work it all out on the yoga mat.”
