A man was seen carrying a TV near the corner of Veulalee and Pitt avenues at Trevallyn about 11.30am on Sunday.
Posts about the break ins and the man with the TV have been circulating on social media for two days, with community members expressing outrage and concern about the incidents.
“Absolutely disgusting! I don’t know what our beautiful island is turning in to,” one comment said.
“When I moved here three months ago the previous tenants said they never locked the doors, they didn't even have keys. So nor did we initially. Safe to say everything is locked up 24/7 now. It's such a shame,” another comment said.

Police are investigating the sighting of the man with the TV and said they are following a specific line of inquiry into the house burglaries.
Anyone with information about the burglaries, or who saw a man walking with a TV in the area, is asked to come forward.
“If you see something suss it never hurts to report it. If the authorities investigate and it's nothing, no harm done. If it's something, they've got something to work with,” a comment said.
