Is our society so bankrupt that people are not willing to help those who cannot help themselves? Where has charity gone?

Obviously the spokesperson for United Voice, Ms Miller, does not believe in bettering our society, instead, she puts money before helping others who are less fortunate.

We have many people in our society who volunteer their time and expect no reward for their effort. The reward is knowing you have made somebody’s life better.

Apparently, casino workers do not volunteer to help others, which is a shame.

It pulls our society down to a lower level where money is the only thing that matters and to hell with everybody else.

Or is it just the casino workers union that strives to debase our standard of living?

Society paid for your school education Ms Miller and did not ask you to pay it back, so stop being a taker and start being a giver.

John F. Kennedy once said, “ask not what America can do for you, instead ask what you can do for America”.

Perhaps we would all have a happier life if we adopted a similar saying.

UNHAPPY NAB shareholders fired the first shot over incredible chief executive pay.

Outlandish remunerations where being enjoyed plus incredible bonuses.

Clean up your act was the cry from 80 per cent of shareholders who were absolutely fed up with the board’s performances.

One elderly shareholder passionately spoke saying, he could not understand how a chief executive on $1000 an hour could be entitled to bonuses. Admitting they got it wrong is little comfort, and even with a large reduction in pay they still are paid approximately $3 million a year.

Where told to get the right people for the top position you have to pay top dollar.

Another shareholder spoke out and said that is what we have been doing and where has it got us now. Overpaid executives with poor performances claiming bonuses.

Stating ongoing future poor performances will result in shareholders intervention and action. At last concerned people power.

I was not happy off to work the other morning after following a flat-tray ute.

To my mortification, there was this young dog, methinks a border collie, that was hanging on for its dear life on the back tray with no safety harness or chain to keep it safe. 

I thought this was not legal and this poor dog was almost surfing the moves of the ute as it tried to maintain its balance.

Come one ute driver, this fur baby could have gotten so badly hurt or died – what were you thinking?

The Gender Bill should be rejected by Parliament. As well as birth certificate tampering, it requires that a male must be regarded for all purposes as female, or a female as a male, simply because that is what they claim to be, regardless of their biological makeup. 

It provides for prosecution if you protest, or fail to totally accept this, including not referring to "him" or "her" as preferred. 

Already those who oppose the Bill are being sidelined and freely attacked as bigots and extremists.

Teachers will be required to use their authority to teach a biological untruth whether or not parents approve.

It will be lawful for a male to claim he is female and go freely into adult or child female-only spaces, women’s shelters and crisis centres, sports clubs and community organisations designed for females only.

Passing a law which makes gender irrelevant in human relations amounts to an attack on the basic elements of human sexuality, the foundations on which the natural functioning of society operates. To even contemplate doing so is madness.

This year was another of events that continued to surprise.

The heroics of Rod Paterson recently in Melbourne, whose intention to rescue a person possibly trapped in a ute engulfed by flames, only to be subjected to a knife attack, was continually filmed by onlookers who did not lift a finger to help.

He did receive help, one a homeless person with a shopping trolley, a nearby security guard, and another person who contained his bleeding with a jumper until medical help arrived, but promptly left the scene without any form of recognition.

Obviously, we live in a world of those who can, and those who choose to be passive narcissistic voyeurs of violence and murder.

Yes, they are all sorry now and we all have always known who instigated it.

We also know they are all adults and I would like to bring to their attention a very poignant poem l was taught at Charles Street Primary School 70 years ago written by Sir Henry Newbolt titled Play up! Play up! And play the game! 

A line from it reads, "it's not for the sake of a ribboned coat or the selfish hope of a season's fame, but his captain's hand on his shoulder smote 'Play up! play up! and play the game!". 

We all now hope a lesson has been learned by the whole team, the country you play for and its honour.
