BeerFest will hold its event on New Year’s Eve for the first time.
Event organiser James Harding said it was expected to be one of the biggest events yet.
“Ticket sales are flying. We sold over 100 tickets on Christmas Day. We weren’t expecting anyone to buy tickets on Christmas Day so that just shows that the week leading into the festival will be busy with sales,” he said.
About 7000 people are expected to attend, which is double the number of people who went to the Royal Eve celebrations to bring in 2018.
Live music and entertainment will start from 4pm and continue until midnight.
“We’ve got a huge amount of kids activities happening. We’ve also just added a haunted house which is not only for the kids but adults as well because it’ll be staying until midnight,” Mr Harding said.
“There will be fireworks about 9.15pm and again at midnight.”
Bands, comedy and DJ sets will help bring in the new year. Luke Parry will take to the stage first, John and Jai, then Candy Feet, followed by The Kicks making their debut. After the first round of fireworks, DJs will take over the decks.
After initial backlash about making the event more family friendly, Mr Harding said the number of children’s activities on offer were bringing people around to the idea.
“We’ve always been family friendly in the past,” he said.
BeerFest will be held at Royal Park.
Tickets start from $24.
