City of Launceston and Tourism Northern Tasmania have amalgamated two websites; destinationlaunceston.com.au and northerntasmania.com.au into one for people to access.
The address for the combined sites will be northerntasmania.com.au.
Tourism Northern Tasmania chief executive Chris Griffin said the new website will help people find exciting things to do they would not have known about otherwise.
“The website is designed with a trip plan, suggested itineraries with top things to do, top places to eat and that information’s changing all the time,” Mr Griffin said.
“Essentially the websites about attracting more people to the region and the city, inviting them and exciting them to stay longer and obviously spend more money.”
Mr Griffin also mentioned will have monthly and seasonal updates and will interact with local businesses to have up-to-date information of their operations.
City of Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said the website is a great tool for people to see more in Launceston, as well as the greater Northern Tasmania region.
“What this will do is give people that one point of call where they can come and see all the attractions that can go to,” Cr van Zetten said.
“They can make informed decisions about what to do with their time depending on how much time they have.
“It’s not just a three hour trip to launceston, it can be a three or four day trip.”
