Six years after taking on organisation of the much-loved carols the group is hoping for its biggest turnout yet, as preparations enter the final phase for Sunday’s event.
Deputy mayor Danny Gibson, chair of the Rotary Club’s Carols by Candlelight committee, said it was one of their signature community events.
“It’s an opportunity for use to give back to our community, and to harness the amazing support there is in Launceston at Christmas time to make a difference,” Mr Gibson said.

The three-hour concert featuring more than 40 Christmas songs sung by local performers - and the crowd - will see funds raised directed to The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal.
The 2018 appeal has raised over $58,000 so far to make the season a little easier for people in need.
Councillor Gibson said the carols themselves had raised over $73,000 for the appeal over the past six years - with $16,000 contributed last year.
“We’re hoping this year will be even bigger,” he said.
Funds raised are split equally between the City Mission, St Vincent de Pauls Society, the Salvation Army and the Benevolent Society.
One of those taking the stage on Sunday is Tarrant Edwards, who recently graduated from grade 12 at Launceston Church Grammar School.
Mr Edwards will be performing as part of a number of groups on the night, but it’s the duet with Charlotte Page and the backing of a big band he’s most looking forward to.
“It’s a dream come true,” he said. “And a wonderful opportunity to give something back.”
- The Launceston Carols by Candlelight will be held at City Park on Sunday, December 23. Gates open at 5.00pm for a 7.00pm start. Entry is $5 for adults and $3 for children, and includes a safe-flame candle.
