Ladder-leader South Launceston rattled up 3-130 in a crushing win over Riverside.
Invited to bat first at Windsor Park, South piled on 62 for the first wicket and 49 for the second.
Openers Caitlyn Webster (43 off just 36 deliveries, including six boundaries) and Amy Duggan (31) continued their superb form this season before first-drop Belinda Wegman (22) kept up the pressure and unbeaten pair Lisa Battle and Meg Radford ensured a formidable total.
Nicola Dusautoy, Tayla Buchanan and Melinda Wilson took the three wickets.
Riverside’s reply was the story of one batter as Ianthe Boden maintained her impressive sequence of scores in this season’s competition.
The opener scored 26 runs, including three boundaries, but found partners hard to come by as nobody else broke double figures.
Boden was the fifth wicket to fall and although the Blues batted out their 20 overs, they fell 70 runs short.
South’s bowlers shared the wickets around with Ellie Mathews taking an economical 2-4 off three overs including the dangerous Boden, as Battle, Chelsea Ryan, Ava Curtis (1-3) and Zara Broomby claimed one each.
Launceston inflicted a seven-wicket win over Mowbray.
Winning the toss at Invermay Park, the Lions invited the hosts to bat on their own deck and although the Eagles batted out their 20 overs, they could only muster 9-62.
A 27-run second-wicket stand between Dana Lester, who top scored on 23 and hit one of only two boundaries in the match, and Alysha Jackson, who was the only other batter to make double figures with 11, had Mowbray in the contest.
However, Jackson’s dismissal sparked a collapse of 7-17 as Launceston’s bowlers seized the initiative.
Charlotte Layton (2-16) returned the best figures but Stacey Norton-Smith, Amy Pereira, Victoria Geale and Cassie Esam all picked up a wicket with Esam adding a couple of run-outs.
Launceston’s chase was also built around a second-winning partnership.
Lynn Hendley (21) and Rhianne Hack (17) added 30 after the early run-out of Norton-Smith which allowed Geale and Esam to secure the win with 4.3 overs remaining.
Sara Wilkin and Jackson claimed a wicket each.
Round 10 will be on Sunday, January 13.
