The recreation area was a joint project between the West Tamar Council, Riverside Lions Club, and funded by the state government.
A sausage sizzle was held by the Lions club to celebrate the facilities’ opening, with a visit from Health Minister Michael Ferguson.
West Tamar mayor Christina Holmdahl said the facility was designed so anyone and everyone from the community can enjoy it.
“We’ve tried to make the park accessible to people of all ages and physical ability,” she said.
“It’s part of a longstanding partneship between the Lions club and West Tamar Council.”
The new area is also aimed at creating a space for community engagement in fitness that removes barriers for exercising such as money, location and motivation.
An instructional guide was also built at the facility that provides tips and an exercise chart for users of all levels of skill.
