Angela Forsyth, owner of the Gladstone Hotel, said reception cut out at 12.11pm on Saturday, December 15.
Since then, her Ubet system, which runs on 3G, has been down, along with her mobile phone and data.
“Nobody’s been able to place a bet since Saturday,” she said.
“People come into my venue specifically to have a couple of beers and place a bet, and because they can’t do that they go somewhere else, so I’m not very impressed.
“I can’t pay my wages, I can’t pay my bills … it’s cost us considerable patronage.”
She said that after calling Telstra on Saturday, after a 30-minute wait, she was told the issue would be fixed in between 12pm and 2pm on Sunday. When this did not occur she called again, and was asked to check their website.
“I said ‘hang on a minute ….’ and he said ‘oh yeah, you’ve got no service,’” she said.
Owner of the Gladstone General Store Mandy Forsyth said the outage meant the town did not have any postage services.
“There’s so many people going crook on us, and [Telstra] have done nothing,” she said.
“A lot of people rely on it here, they just use mobile they don’t have landlines.
“You can’t even use the phonebox, people have been coming up here to use my landline.”
A Telstra spokesperson said the outage had been caused by a hardware issue.
“We are aware of an issue impacting mobile services at Gladstone,” they said.
“We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience and can assure them that we are working to have services restore as quickly as possible.”
