The weather held off for the round that saw the Big Four clubs playing each other in what could potentially reward a top two finish come finals time.
Trevallyn travelled to North Launceston and the Thunder was far too good for the home side, winning on all rinks with 22 shots up their sleeve.
Although North had some noticeable outs, the inconsistent line ups so far this year could be costing them the chance for their second premiership three-peat in the past decade.
Josh Walker-Davis kept things close against Alan Gamble throughout the day and a late surge saw Trevallyn score 14 shots in the last four ends to record a 33-19-rink win.
Gamble had novice Andrew Howard playing his debut premier game, but the combined efforts of the Walker-Davis rink were too strong.
Josh Appleyard looked to be chasing early against David Minns, with Minns in form, but it was Appleyard who clawed back a 22-20-rink win on the back of a solid debut series in last week’s French Holbrook test between Tasmania and Victoria.
Patrick Oldham stepped back to lead for Dan Hollingsworth and the change worked with Hollingsworth getting a six-shot win over Jarrod Howard.
The win sees Trevallyn move to the top of the table after the completion of the first half of the season, a position to be proud of following a slow start to the year.
The other big game was between the Longford Tigers and East Launceston on Longford’s synthetic, with Longford looking the goods early up easily on two rinks.
Mark Strochnetter jumped out of the blocks up against Aaron Page and strength in numbers with bowls in the head. Page was able to fight back with a few big numbers, and then kept things close for the afternoon to eventually get a 25-23-rink win.
Daniel Baker had the better of Robert McMullen early in the game, but a few rink changes for this week’s team and the new crew including premier debutant Tony Keegan, kicked into gear with a number of multiples scored late in the game to retain a two-shot advantage.
William Springer had the better of Joey Thomas from the get go, outscoring Longford on 19 of the 25 ends.
Springer had a bolstered front end this week with Corey Bowerman and Courtney Hobbs moving over to help the rink get back on track after a few losses.
The win puts East into second position on the ladder at the halfway mark.
After three competitive games against the powerhouse sides, Invermay fell short against Beauty Point at The Swamp.
Candice Hodgetts was Invermay’s sole winner.
The Bowls North Saturday Pennant will now take a break until January 12, when teams will return rested and revitalised.
