Trustee Jill Dearing said it was the community spirit that keeps the fund coming back.
“We see that it goes to four different organisations and think it’s a really good cause,” she said. “We like to think that doing the interviews might also encourage other people to come forward, too.”
This year, the fund donated $12,000 to the appeal, which has already raise $50,000.
The funds will be split equally between the City Mission, St Vincent de Pauls Society, the Salvation Army and the Benevolent Society.
Ms Dearing said she has seen the impact the appeal has on the four charities.
“I keep in touch with the Salvation Army and the Benevolent Society and I know it does a lot of good and it has been doing so for a long time,” she said.
