Rain was expected to begin in the state’s North on Thursday as a trough lingered over the state, and a low intensified over Victoria.
Thursday was predicted to receive five to 15-millimeters of rain on the East Coast, five-millimeters along the North coast, and 10 to 20-millimeters through the Bass Strait Islands
On Friday, an additional 10 to 20-millimeters of water was expected to fall on the Bass Strait Islands, five to 10 on the East Coast, and less than five-millimetres on the North coast.
Rain was expected to continue over the weekend, with the highest totals expected on Saturday.
Two-day totals between Saturday to Sunday at midnight were an average of 100 to 150-millimetres in the North-East, and 30 to 50-millimetres in the North-West.
Saturday gusty conditions were expected across the North-East and North coast, with gusts reaching 70 to 80 km/h during the day
Thunderstorms were possible in the North and East on Saturday and statewide on Sunday, with heavier rainfall totals possible alongside the storms.
Minor to moderate flooding was possible through the state, with the highest risk in the North-East.
