A discretionary development application was submitted to the City of Launceston council by Daniel Edwards Construction to build a fence, upgrade an existing car parking, and the demolition of two existing buildings at the Boag’s site on William Street.
The application states 27 William Street is an employee car park for Boags with a bitumen surface in poor condition. The aim of the application is to tidy up the site as a car park.
A fence at 28 William Street will be removed, along with two brick buildings which contain asbestos.
The building at 29 William Street is not in use.
As there is a potential for historic gas lines to be on or near the site, and due to asbestos being inside, management measures were proposed for the demolition.
Advertising for the application will close on January 2, 2019.
More information is available on the City of Launceston website.
