In a media statement, police said a “man inside the house has fired a number of shots, and police are attempting to negotiate with the man”.
About 10am on Saturday, nearly 18 hours into the siege, a man, 24, and a woman, 47, had been taken into custody.
Earlier in the morning, Tasmania Police Commander Brett Smith said the best resolution for both the man and the woman was to walk out of the house "with their hands above their heads".
