The school donated more than $450 to The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal.
Trevallyn Primary principal Annette Hollingsworth said pupil leaders decided the appeal was an appropriate cause to support.
“They’ve [the pupils] done some research into who you could help and how it [their donation] would have the most impact, it’s very generous,” Mrs Hollingsworth said.
The Empty Stocking Appeal is an annual appeal that raises funds for four local charities during the holidays.
Grade 4 pupil Daisy Barbour said she wanted to help those who were less privileged and don’t get the same opportunities they do.
“We wanted to make them have a merry Christmas, just like us,” Daisy said.
The children all agreed helping people during Christmas was important.
Two weeks after starting, the Empty Stocking Appeal has raised $32,511.25 through generous public donations.
