The performer, who grew up in Smithton, won the award for Best Performance in a Television Comedy for her ground-breaking Netflix special Nanette, which was filmed during a live performance at the Sydney Opera House.
Tasmanian minister for arts, Elise Archer, has congratulated Gadsby on her latest honour.
“In Nanette, Hannah draws upon complex and at times confronting moments from her life as an LGBTI woman, to comment on the obstacles female comedians often face when developing and performing their craft,” Ms Archer said.
“Hannah has performed Nanette throughout Australia, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in the United States, to worldwide acclaim.
“The government is proud to see local talent recognised on a national and international stage.”
Tasmanian resident and producer, Sue Clothier was also successful in taking home an award, winning Best Documentary or Factual Program for her work producing the pioneering ABC series Employable Me.
