Niche, a fundraising market created by St Giles, has been operating for 10 years, with stallholders raising more than $200,000 for the charity.
The fundraiser has included more than 400 Tasmanian stallholders showing their wares over it’s 10 year lifespan.
Niche Market manager Victoria Bayes said Launceston’s Best Beard competition is a great way to get more men involved in the fundraiser.
“Often men come along [to Niche] and are kind of hanging around so we thought we’d give them a better excuse; to come to Niche and show off their beards,” Mrs Bayes said.
A champagne bar with $10 sparkling will accompany the opening, taking the edge off some hairy competition.
Every glass of bubbly purchased will come with a chance to win a diamond encrusted pendent and earrings valued at $1300 from F&W Stewart.
As well as champagne, 64 stalls will be showcasing their products at the launch, smooth music from Phil Pitcher and Peter Waddle will also be provided.
Best beard in show will be awarded a hair and beard care package as well as $125 to spend on wine and food at the Launceston Night Market.
Doors at the Albert Hall will be open from 2pm on December 7 and on December 8 from 8am until 3pm.
If you think you have enough facial fuzz to enter the competition, entries will be open from 5.45pm on Friday.
