First held at Bridport, the event has rotated through St Helens, Freycinet, Bicheno and Scamander River golf clubs for 20 years.
Returning to Bridport, the ladies singles was won by Sharon Ellis (Launceston Golf Club) with 29 points and the teams event (Jean Samec Shield) by Mowbray on 77 from Launceston (75) and Ulverstone (72).
In other golfing news Greg Longmore (Launceston) won the Tamar Valley Cup at Greens Beach. Craig Hancock (Wynyard) also shot 12 under par for the 45 holes but Longmore prevailed in a playoff at the 19th.
This Toogood trophy event which carries ranking points for state team selection, was keenly contested by a field of 43 and Jack Blair from Deloraine was third.
A further Toogood trophy event as well as a Goggin and Hall consistency event for women, is the Northern Amateur at Prospect Vale on Sunday, December 16. A 36-hole event open to men with a handicap of 18.4 or less, with a concurrent junior, colts and seniors trophy.
A women’s 36-hole event, a women’s B and C grade event and a team’s event will be held in conjunction with the Northern Amateur champs.
