Packed full of tourist hot spots and events happening throughout the island state including Falls Festival.
The 26th annual Falls Festival at Marion Bay will include performances from Vance Joy, Hilltop Hoods and Toto.
The line-up also includes Anderson Paak and the Free Nationals, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Chvrches and Interpol.
The three-day festival will tour to Marion Bay, Byron Bay, Lorne and Fremantle over the New Year period. The Marion Bay event will be the only leg of the festival open to all ages and runs December 29-31.
Artists including Briggs, Tkay Maidza, Amy Shark and Tired Lion are set to represent Australian music at the festival. International artists will include Asian hip-hop collective 88-rising, Scandinavian turntablist Cashmere Cat and Swedish sisters First Aid Kit.
The Village is the festival within the festival, the party within the party. You’ll find morning yoga sessions, samba classes and circus workshops followed up with puppetry, burlesque and comedy, as well as a never-ending list of the unexpected. There’s plenty of ways to get involved or just sit back and observe.
Locals and visitors to Tasmania can attend the festival by:
Bus shuttle - Redline will take you from the North of Hobart to the festival and back. Belbins will pick you up and drop you off at the Hobart Airport. Jayride has options available from the Launceston Airport and from the Hobart Airport to the CBD.
Drive - You can drive in and out each day but the free day parking is limited, so carpooling is recommended. Just ask the staff on the gate to place you in the day parking area.
Camp - If you’re heading to Falls and are camping onsite, your car will be parked next to your tent space. This must remain in place until the end of the festival when everyone departs on January 1. To camp and park next to your friends you need to arrive in a convoy.
The white shores of Marion Bay are only a short stroll from the festival arena. The beach is open each day at the below times, remember to bring swimmers, sunscreen and a towel.
Dec 29: 10am to 7pm. Dec 30: 7am to 7pm. Dec 31: 7am to 7pm. Jan 1: 7am to 12 noon. For more information and tickets see: fallsfestival.com.au.
