If you have ever picked up our travel guide in the past you may notice that we have made a few changes!
This Travelways edition has received a complete makeover which we hope that you will love, as much as we have putting it together.
The guide still has all the great content that you expect, from events happening across the state for December and January, hot spots to visit along the way and listings for tours, accommodation and attractions for the whole Island state.
Tassie has shook off the winter chill and the doors are fully open to all our visitors from across the world.
Tasmania is alive with food and wine festivals throughout the summer months, ranging from the massive annual Taste of Tasmania festival on the Hobart waterfront to small regional shows highlighting local produce.
Taste, held in and around Princes Wharf No. 1, runs from just after Christmas to New Year, coinciding with the arrival of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race fleet.
Vineyards and cellar doors across the state will be open for business and is a great chance to experience Tasmania’s world-famous cool climate wines.
The Tasmanian cellar door experience is as diverse as the range of wine styles, from converted heritage stables to ultra-modern cellar door restaurants.
Producers are usually on hand and happy to share their passion for their wines, distinctly shaped by Tasmania’s climate and soils.
Not only will you have the chance to 'wine' your way around the island, you'll be amazed at the fresh local food on offer from individual producers and at farmers markets, the natural scenery, the arts, culture, heritage and most of all, the interesting, passionate characters that call Tasmania home.
Tasmania’s boutique yet burgeoning wine industry boasts seven distinct wine growing areas that are divided into four wine experiences - the north, the south, the east coast and the north west. All are within easy reach of major centres or are located en route to some of Tasmania’s iconic attractions.
And it is not just wine and food on offer, Tasmania is home to some of Australia's most iconic walks – the Bay of Fires, Maria Island and of course the Overland Track, to name a few. But one doesn't have to embark on a multi-day trek to experience the best of Tassie on foot.
The 60 Great Short Walks offer the best of Tasmania's walking opportunities.
Whether you want a gentle stroll or a physical challenge; a seaside ramble or a mountain vista; a long day's outing or a short wander, Great Short Walks has plenty for you.
The walks are located throughout Tasmania and can generally be accessed from major roads and include a range of environments.
Whatever your Tassie adventure is, make sure you enjoy it!
