Newtown’s Henry Burbury narrowly defeated Latrobe’s Patsy Paine to take out the Tasmanian golf croquet Silver Medal at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre over the weekend.

Eastern Shore’s John Hutchinson and Burbury advanced to the semi-finals form Block A, while St Leonards’ Jan Barnes and Paine progressed from Block B.
Paine took down Hutchinson 13 hoops to 12 in the first semi, while Burbury defeated Barnes 21-18. The final was exciting and close with the lead changing constantly throughout the game, however, Burbury eventually won the contest 14-13.
The next event will be the state golf croquet competition at the Sandy Bay Club on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
PENNANT RESULTS
The Northern Region Croquet competition pennants have finished with undefeated East Launceston claiming open division division 1 from Latrobe.
St Leonards won division B and Latrobe excelled in division C.
