It’s the 50th year since the original Holden Monaro was released, making this year especially exciting for those attending.
More than 200 Monaros from Tasmania and interstate will show and shine their vehicles at Windsor Park on Saturday.
A particularly rare 2006 GTO Monaro owned by Launceston enthusiast Chris Labedzki is one such highlight of the upcoming show.
Mr Labedzki’s 2006 GTO Monaro is one of only 200 ever made.
“I was after one for years, it was just a matter of getting something that appealed to me,” he said.
“I just happened to be at the right place at the right time and low and behold it popped up.”
Mr Labedzki’s Monaro has only clocked up 6100 kilometres, in an attempt to keep the vehicle as mint condition as possible.
“You’ve got a lot to protect there, all the side spurs and the front spoiler,” he said.
Graeme Toddie travelled from Albury, NSW in his 1977 Monaro GTS to attend the showcase in Launceston.
Mr Toddie purchased the Monaro second hand 18 years ago, and has spent that time returning the car to its former glory.
For Mr Toddie, it is all part of the what makes the car special.
“It’s something about the old cars – the soul, the sound, the feel and the smell,” Mr Toddie said.
A show and shine function will be held on Saturday from 10am-3pm at Windsor Park, as well as a display along George Street from 6pm-9pm later that day.
