The annual Apex Launceston Christmas Parade saw more than 2000 people involved and start the Christmas cheer.
Apex’s parade coordinator Cheryl Gabites said the parade went really well.
“There were lots of floats, 41 including Santa. That’s about the same as other years, we’ve always had about 41 floats pretty much every year,” she said.
“And the crowds were really good, too. I’ve had people talk to me as they were coming passed and they were just saying they couldn’t believe the crowd, so that’s great.”
The parade has had to come to a small stand still at the corner of Patterson and St John streets in other years, but in 2018 the police bike lead the way and the road was shared by both ends of the parade. Ms Gabites said the idea worked well.
Seven floats entered for the first time. All floats were all judged for Theme Adherence won by The Walking Song Sheets, Most Musical won by St Andrews Caledonian Pipe Band, the Mayor’s Choice won by Miss B’s Student Services and Creativity and Craftsmanship won by Prospect Medical Centre.
All money raised will be donated to Launceston Feeding the Homeless.
