Northern Tasmanians have had a chance to voice their concerns on the National Disability Insurance Scheme. On Thursday, the Make It Work forum was hosted by Every Australian Counts at St Michaels Hall, Newstead. Campaign director Kristen Deane said many of the issues raised during the forum were in line with concerns felt around the country. Panelists Jane Wardlaw, St Michaels chief executive John Gilpin, and Lisa Riley discussed issues such as their personal experiences with the scheme, and the three things they would change about the scheme straight away if given the opportunity. Community members in attendance were invited to brainstorm solutions that could be put into place, with ideas including clearer communication from the NDIS, bringing more people into the workforce, updated training, and better transport options.
