Coupe’s new book, Roadies, looks at the unsung heroes of the entertainment industry, the workers who keep the shows on the road and set up the stages for the musicians who tour the country.
After interviewing more than 60 roadies, Coupe has chosen his 30 favorite stories for this book.
“My favourite story without doubt is Tana Douglas,” Coupe said.
Ms Douglas was arguably the first female roadie anywhere in the world.
After finishing his high school studies in the 1970s, Coupe left Launceston and went on to work as a manager to both Paul Kelly and the Hoodoo Gurus before becoming an author and music commentator.
In Conversation with Stuart Coupe is on Friday at Collins Booksellers from 6pm.
