For Riverside, the back-to-back victories were a timely boost after languishing on the bottom of Cricket North’s women’s ladder in a winless start to the first three rounds.

The fifth change to the Blues’ bowling line-up may well be looked as the turning point on their season.

Tayla Buchanan nabbed a stunning 4-7 to stop the flow of Launceston runs towards 8-89 in the Twenty20 clash, only helped by 30 extras that included 19 wides.

After Riverside star opener Ianthe Boden hit an invaluable 20, Emily Nunn took over with an unbeaten 46 that also included six boundaries to reach the target in 14 overs.

Amy Pereira would claim three wickets and Rhianne Hack two for the Lions.

Riverside had been quick to continue the momentum of a season-opening triumph hours later with victory over Mowbray by seven wickets.

After losing an early wicket, Eagles opener Alysha Jackson and skipper Dana Lester piled on the runs.

When both were out for 24, the middle-order failed to guide Mowbray past 5-84.

Riverside was in the box seat for a second straight win after Boden single-handedly slammed 50 not out.

Mowbray’s bowlers earlier struggled to make inroads against South Launceston. 

The classy top-order of the Knights reached 1-76 after Caitlyn Webster belted 52 off 58 balls and captain Belinda Wegman added 23 off 26.

The Eagles had to chase down an intimidating South’s 4-110, but struggled to form any significant partnerships.

Eight of them were worth just single figures, as Lester batted through for 43 not out towards Mowbray’s 9-77.

For the Lions attack, Alice McLauchlan snared 3-13 and Ava Curtis picked up 2-3.

South Launceston made it five from five so far this year against Launceston.

At 4-35, the Knights looked in trouble. But a rescue mission from McLauchlan with 27 from 38 deliveries and Meg Radford’s 22 off 20 set the Lions 99 to win.

Launceston relied on 44 from Stacey Norton-Smith, but fell 21 runs short of the victory with nine balls left.
