The popular annual event features a significant innovation on previous editions with organisers already planning another for next year.
This year’s event began in Launceston on Wednesday and embarked on its longest stage of 116 kilometres from George Town to Grindelwald on Thursday but from Friday through to Sunday’s finish in Devonport will include an inaugural women’s tour.
“We’re particularly excited to have the first women’s tour and it will be tough for them with two really hard road stages,” race director John Trevorrow said.
Plans are also afoot to move next year’s event deeper into November to lead into the Stan Siejka Classic criterium in Launceston.
