Eddie Ockenden, Jeremy Edwards, Rebecca Van Asch, Amy Cure and Jake Birtwhistle all claimed gold medals at April’s Commonwealth Games while Sarah Hawe and Ciona Wilson won medals at the rowing world championships.
Hobart duo Ockenden and Edwards were in the Kookaburras outfit nominated for the team of the year award.
Meanwhile the high performance program of the year nominees include Van Asch and her Australian Jackaroos teammates; the national cycling program featuring Cure; Hawe, Wilson and their teammates who amassed 33 medals at the rowing world championships; and Birtwhistle, who anchored Australia’s mixed relay triathlon team showed to victory on the Gold Coast and silver in the world championship.
Winners will be announced on December 13.
