A Launceston charity organisation has called on residents to dig deep and help transform Christmas for those in need, with the launch of their annual appeal.

City Mission’s Christmas Appeal began on Tuesday with the message “The best thing to open this Christmas is your heart”.
Chief executive Stephen Brown said while the while Christmas was a celebration for many, it can also be a challenging time for others.

“We see people every day who are struggling to afford life’s essentials, the extra pressure of trying to afford a simple Christmas meal or a gift for children can be overwhelming,” Mr Brown said.
“Really in the lead up to Christmas to make sure we can give as many people as possible all the assets they need, all the resources they need.”
The Christmas Appeal will run until the end of December.
Donations can be made online at citymission.org.au, via mail, or in person at any City Mission business.
