Coach Andrew Gower is weighing up the move after the seasoned wicketkeeper had been rushed to hospital following a freak accident.
The Cricket Tasmania Premier League encounter at the NTCA Ground had to be stopped for 10 minutes after Taylor required treatment.
He was under observation at the hospital for 90 minutes.
The 23-year-old had been knocked off his feet standing up to the stumps off the bowling of Burnie paceman Shaun Redman.
The delivery kicked off a good length and hit Taylor, who was wearing a helmet, in the head. The ball struck him flush on the Raiders’ badge, leaving him dizzy.
Doctors did precautionary tests and told Taylor to sit out for the rest of the day.
Gower wanted to take no risk on Taylor’s health over the next seven days.
“He’ll have a light week this week and we’ll only train him when he needs to train,” he said. “I’m quite confident he’ll front up next Saturday.
“Whether he keeps or not could be up to him – we’ll just see how he feels.”
Devonport recruit Tyler Dell, one of three keepers in the side along with South Launceston’s Jono Marsden, took the gloves and a screamer catch in Taylor’s absence.
The Raiders were forced to call on Riverside 15-year-old Sam Artis onto the field as a last-minute substitute.
