SUBMERGED: Fourteen shipwrecks feature in the nationally touring panel exhibition Submerged: stories of Australia’s shipwrecks. The exhibition will be held at the Bass Strait Maritime Centre, Devonport, until November 15.
PORTRAITURE PRIZE: The artwork of the 35 finalists of the Tasmanian Portraiture Prize are showing at Sawtooth ARI until November 24. Three other shows, Shaun Wilson’s Dark Space, Abigail Giblin’s The Windows, and Phoebe Beard’s Press Check, are also taking place.
MINDS DO MATTER: People with a mental illness and their carers are the artists in this intriguing exhibition at Queen Victoria Museum, Inveresk, running until November 5.
BRAD MOSS: Beyond 2.0 is the latest exhibition by master craftsman and woodturner Brad Moss, showing at Design Tasmania until November 25.
LAST DAY: Keith Lane’s exhibition at Gallery Pejean, In The Kingdom of Desire, will have its final day on November 10. In the exhibition, Lane continues his preoccupation with the human body.
OFF THE WALLS
LECTURE: The next ADFAS lecture is on Tuesday, November 13 at the Sir Raymond Ferrall Centre, University of Tasmania Newnham campus. 6.15pm for 6.30pm start, with tickets $30 including refreshments. The topic is Those Mitford Girls! delivered by Susannah Fullerton on the Mitford Sisters.
YOUTH ENSEMBLE: Launceston Youth Theatre Ensemble’s Junior Company will perform A Christmas Peter Pan on November 12 to 14 at The Annexe Theatre, Inveresk, from 6pm. Tickets are $17, or $14 concession and $10 for LYTE students.
SOUND OF MUSIC: The Encore Theatre Company presents the classic musical, The Sound of Music, which will run at the Princess Theatre from November 1 to 17. Tickets range between $38 to $79, and are available through Theatre North at the Princess.
MASTERCLASS: Acclaimed Australian pastel artist Rod Bathgate will teach a three-day masterclass, put on by the Launceston Art Society. The workshop will be held at Evandale Gallery on November 16 to 18. For details contact Karen Armstrong on 0412 472 795 or 6397 3301.
