Now, after making a home in Tasmania, she has developed an award-winning skincare company.
“I’ve always been a bit of world traveller and always thought it was a bit boring to stay in the place you were born,” she said.
“I always wanted to have a distant relative to go and visit at school holidays, but I never had one unfortunately.”
After travelling the world for six months about 13 years ago and meeting her husband, Ms Driver settled on living in Australia.
“I decided I wanted Australia to be the new home,” she said.
“I travelled around and met my husband and decided Tasmania was the most beautiful place in Australia.”
About four years ago, they made the move to the island and haven’t looked back since.
When she had a reaction to hand sanitiser, Driver got to work on creating a skincare range.
“I had a severe allergic reaction to regular skincare products, my face blew up and so did my eyes, I could hardly see for three days,” she said.
“I think a puffer fish would have looked more attractive.”
She said while the idea to create the range had been in her mind for a while, it wasn’t easy.
“I started to research and look at the ingredients because I was really shocked at what happened and couldn’t believe it,” she said.
“I decided to start up my own skincare range so that those using it know exactly what is in the product and that they can trust it 100 per cent.”
Tasmania’s natural beauty also gave her the extra push to get creative.
“Tasmania is also such a beautiful environment, so it was really inspiring to create a 100 per cent natural skincare range with natural and organic ingredients,” she said.
“It definitely took a lot of time, but now I’ve got a Diploma of Natural Skincare Science.”
Now, not only does she had a professional certificate to her name, but an international award.
Last month, she was announced the winner of an international fashion and lifestyle award.
“I happened to win in the category Best Luxury Natural Skincare Company Australia, which is really amazing,” she said.
“I was just really speechless. I’m still fairly unknown and for someone to go out and nominate my skincare was really amazing.”
Now, Driver is turning her focus on breaking into more stores across Australia and to branch out into toiletries for luxury boutique accommodation.
