While a host of elite riders have their eyes set on the $5500 prize money on offer in the Stan Siejka Classic which forms the opening round of a national sprint criterium series, many more mostly local competitors will be filling the support categories.

From juniors to masters, the fields will all have to conquer the formidable 16 per cent Lawrence Street climb and tricky peanut roundabout on Brisbane Street as the 1.1-kilometre circuit offers prime and free spectating opportunities.

Riders from clubs around Tasmania and several from the mainland will compete with races stretching from 15 to 45 minutes before the frenetic final laps.
