For the last year, Natalie Colgrave and Kate Walker have been helping their clients wade the minefield that is property law with their firm ZZIM Conveyancing.
With decades of experience assisting vendors and purchasers in Tasmania, opening their own business was a natural step for the two.
”Nat and I started working together in 2003 at Douglas and Collins,” Kate said.
“Since then we have worked together at different firms and always had the idea of starting our own business.”
“It was something we always wanted to do but could never find the right time,” Natalie said.
The opportunity arose while Kate was on maternity leave, ZZIM has allowed both women a better work-life balance, with four children between them.
Clients put a lot of trust in us to get it right, so when they are happy at the end of the process it's so worth it

“It was a now or never situation, we both have young families, and we wanted more flexibility when it came to achieving a work-life balance,” Kate said.
While Kate and Natalie are striving for a more balanced life, they are still dedicated to getting results for their clients and excited to be able to offer their knowledge and experience in a solely conveyancing focused business.
“We deal with a lot of first home buyers who need extra assistance, and that’s when our backgrounds come into play,” Kate said.
“We love helping people, and helping them to understand the processes, address their concerns and guide them through the purchase or sale of a property.”
“Clients put a lot of trust in us to get it right, so when they are happy at the end of the process it’s so worth it,”
Reflecting on their first year in business, both Kate and Natalie said it had been an “overwhelming” experience.
“We weren’t expecting to be flooded straightaway; we thought it would take some time for people to realise who we were and to trust us as well,” Kate said.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone that has trusted and supported us so far,” Natalie said.
Property law can be quite complex, and conveyancing has to consider issues such as contract terms and conditions, mortgages, covenants, easements, caveats, the type of property title, the type of tenancy, local council regulations and zoning to name just a few.
