The incident occurred about 6.30pm on Sunday.
Police have charged a 16-year-old with armed robbery and stealing.
It’s alleged the teenager entered the George Town Road service station and demanded money from the attendant while armed with a firearm.
It’s alleged the teen stole a computer from the counter.
Police say at the time of the incident a person riding a scooter, believed to be a boy, entered the service station.
It’s believed the scooter rider was threatened during the incident.
“Police are urging this member of the community to come forward and provide witness information by calling Launceston CIB on 6777 3911,” Tasmania Police said.
